Application Eligibility

Application due: February 15, 2024 by 11:59pm EST

We are looking for African American aspiring educators who are:

 

• Students currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate education degree program, and about to enter the final year of that program,  OR

• Recent graduates who are planning to enroll in a graduate education degree program, OR

• Individuals currently working in education, seeking to become a licensed teacher, including people working with provisional licensure or teaching assistants who wish to become teachers.

• All applicants should be currently enrolled in courses leading towards licensure or have been admitted into a Virginia-approved program awarding licensure. 

 

The qualifications for becoming a Teaching Fellow are stringent. Our committee – a group of local educators and AATF board members – are looking for applicants who are academically competent, are willing to work with other fellows and with mentors, are interested in living and teaching in the Charlottesville/ Albemarle area, and are enthusiastic about education. Preference may be given to people seeking endorsement in the areas most critical to the needs of local school systems, but all k-12 areas of endorsement will be considered.
